Hoping to shape EV policies and manufacturing rules, the auto giants collectively add millions—plus vehicles—to the incoming president’s big day. Automakers are opening their wallets for President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration. Japan to maximize nuclear power and boost renewable energy

The new proposal says nuclear energy should account for 20% of Japan’s energy supply in 2040, up from just 8.5% last year, while expanding renewables to 40-50% from 22.9%. A government-commissioned panel of experts on Wednesday largely supported Japan’s new energy policy for the next few years that calls for bolstering renewables up to half of electricity needs by 2040 while maximizing the use of nuclear power as the country seeks to accommodate the growing power demand in the era of AI while meeting decarbonization targets.

BYD contractor denies ‘slavery-like conditions’ at a Brazil factory

BYD has been building the factory with an annual capacity of producing 150,000 cars initially in Brazil, the Chinese EV giant’s largest overseas market, as part of plans to start production there.
