A range of international trade and consumer exhibitions, conferences and sporting events were staged there. It was redeveloped, preserving the buildings' listed exteriors, at a cost of £1.3 billion to include a smaller events venue, restaurants and hotels, office space, conference centre, gym, theatre, and secondary school.
