About BATTECH - EURECAT
BATTECH is a Joint Research Unit in the field of batteries, promoted and established by the Energy Research Institute of Catalonia (IREC) and the EURECAT Technology Center, to cover the entire battery value chain. BATTECH promotes and participates in research, development, testing, and innovation projects with the aim of improving knowledge transfer to the industry in the field of electrochemical batteries, always from a perspective focused on the circular economy and sustainability. BATTECH comprises a total of 17 research groups and technological units from IREC and Eurecat, providing strong multidisciplinary and multisectoral capacity to tackle the major scientific and technological industrial challenges in the field of electric battery storage, from TRLs 2-4 to TRLs 6-8 (TRL: Technological Readiness Levels), with more than 50 fully dedicated researchers and technologists. Recently, BATTECH has completed two major European reference projects in the new generation of cells and batteries: Cobra and Marbel, coordinated by IREC and Eurecat respectively. It is currently involved in 11 other European research projects H2020 and HE, other national R&D projects, and supports many companies in their research, development, and innovation projects, as well as in the training of their staff.
