SmartD manufactures variable frequency drives (VFDs). These electronic devices control electric motor speed by varying the frequency and voltage supplied to the motor. By adjusting the motor’s speed to match the load requirement, VFDs help to drastically reduce energy consumption. SmartD reinvents motor control by combining three core technologies that complement each other to bring further efficiency and higher Return On Investment than traditional VFDs: 1)Silicon Carbide MOSFET which provides high switching frequency and low losses; 2)Multi-Level Inverters (MLI) that improve harmonic content and decrease electromagnetic interference; 3)Modulation and control Algorithms that take full advantage of SiC and MLI to decrease the cost of the product and increase its reliability.
