A Rich History of Fashion and Retail

Fashion Show Las Vegas was developed by Summa Corporation and Ernest W. Hahn, with the latter also serving as the general contractor. Construction began on March 15, 1979, and the mall opened its doors on February 14, 1981, becoming the first major shopping center on the Strip and the third in the Las Vegas Valley. Its success paved the way for other retail centers on the Strip, including the Forum Shops.

The mall underwent a significant transformation in the early 2000s under the ownership of The Rouse Company. A $1 billion renovation and expansion project introduced new stores, restaurants, and a unique retractable runway for fashion shows. The addition of a plaza along the Strip, featuring the iconic Cloud structure, further enhanced the mall’s appeal as a shopping and entertainment hub. In 2004, the mall was acquired by General Growth Properties, now known as Brookfield Properties.
